Milsons Point - Luna Park and Lavender Bay

The Darling Harbour ferry service stops at Milsons Point, almost straight under the northern end of the Harbour Bridge.  Many people get the ferry here to reach Luna Park, which is just behind the wharf,

The ferry's next stop is at McMahons Point, on the opposite side of Lavender Bay.  The bay was once a centre of shipbuilding in Sydney, before the land became worth too much.  You can walk around the bay by following theboardwalk from Milsons Point Wharf, around the edge of Luna Park.  Past the rail yard (where trains are stored for the next peak hour) which is all that remains of the old Milsons Point rail/ferry interchange, you have the option of taking the tunnel under the rail line, which leads to a park.  At the top of the park is Harbourview Crescent, where you'll find Kirribilli RSL, with a pretty good harbour view from their balcony of their bistro.

Continuing along the foreshore, at the head of the bay you reach the end of the foreshore part.  Go uphill through the park and take the first street; this will take you down to McMahons Point Wharf.

You can go further and explore the old shipyards of Berrys Bay, on the west side of McMahons Point.  There is a history walk brochure from North Sydney Council which describes a 3 hour walk in the area.
